Rivendell Postulant Margy, a vocational Deacon, is currently instrumental in fostering a community of prayer in the Minneapolis area.
Margy comments, "I have a deep yearning to live an organic, intentional life--to be the church rather than to go to church is what my heart longs for. To share a common life of prayer with other pilgrims centered on a rule of life will bring me into deeper communion with God and embolden me in my outreach to the world... I think God calls us to a life of simple abundance and to a life set apart from the materialism of the world.
"Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori says that 'Deacons are called to be the nags of the church--like the importunate widow, pounding on the judge's door every day until she gets justice.' I will serve the community as a loving and devoted nag!!"
Rivendell welcomes Margy with delight, and looks forward to her nagging--a particularly diaconal form of the "provocation to holiness" to which our Rule refers!
